Introduction

The Mwangaza Mashariki website (www.mwangazamashariki.com ), including all its features and content, is a service (“The Service”) made available by Mwangaza Mashariki Ltd. We are incorporated under the laws of Kenya. In these Terms, “MML”, “we”, or “us” all refer to Mwangaza Mashariki Ltd.

MML is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy statement explains our information collection practices with respect to Mwangaza Mashariki (the “Application”) and how we use and protect that information. Note, this privacy statement applies solely to MML websites.

Information Collection

In respect of the personal information that you give us when you register or subscribe to the Application, we are the “data controller” responsible for that information.

Information You Provide 

When you access the Application, you may choose to provide information about yourself such as: identifiers and contact information including your name, country, email address, job title, industry, and company name. By way of example, you may choose to provide your information in the following circumstances:

• Registration for or otherwise accessing the Application;

• Requesting support;

• Payment either through mpesa or bank transactions;

• Contacting us for further information.

MML does not intend to collect sensitive personal information about you through the Application. Sensitive personal information includes a number of types of data relating to: race or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or other similar beliefs; trade union membership; physical or mental health; sexual life or criminal record. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the Application.

Information Use

We use the information we collect as described above for various purposes depending on the context in which we collected such information. For example, it may be necessary for us to process your information in order to process a transaction or provide a service you have requested or otherwise in accordance with a contract between us, or we may process your information in accordance with your prior consent (where you have provided such consent).

We use the information we collect for the following business purposes:

• To operate, maintain, customize, analyze and improve the Application;
• To maintain and improve the safety and security of the Application, and to run our internal operations;
• To prevent and enhance protection against fraud, spam, harassment, intellectual property infringement, crime, and security risks;
• To comply with law, rules, regulations, legal obligations, professional and industry standards, as well as respond to and complying with subpoena, search warrant or other legal process, including establishing, exercising, or defending our legal rights;
• To fulfill your orders/requests and respond to your inquiries;
• To send you service-related notifications or communications;
• To conduct customer satisfaction surveys;
• To improve our products and services and explore ways to develop and grow our business;
• To conduct data analysis, including with regard to the performance and use of the Application and the demographics of its users for use by MML.

We may also use the information we collect to create aggregate or anonymized information, which we may use to build upon and improve the Application and our other products and services as well as for other lawful business purposes.

Information Retention

We will retain the personal information collected by us through the Application for as long as is necessary for the purpose(s) for which it was collected as set out in this privacy statement, provided that personal information may be held for longer periods where extended retention periods are required by law, regulation or professional standards, and in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.

We will keep the information you provide us when you subscribe for two (2) years after you have ceased to be a subscriber, after which it will be deleted.

Security

MML has implemented generally accepted standards of technology and operational security designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction. Only authorized MML personnel and the third parties described in this privacy statement are provided access to personal information and these employees and third parties have agreed to maintain the confidentiality of this information.

Data Storage

The data we collect from you may be transferred to and stored at a different destination outside Kenya. It may also be processed by staff working outside Kenya who works for one of our suppliers or us. Such staff may be engaged in hosting or maintaining our websites or processing your payment details. By submitting your personal data or information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take reasonable steps necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

Access

You may review and change your personal information by logging into the Application and visiting your account profile page. Your responsibility is to ensure that the information you submit when subscribing to the Service is complete, accurate and up to date. It is your responsibility to notify us of any changes.

Children

MML understands the importance of protecting children's privacy, especially in an online environment. The Application is not intentionally designed for or directed at children under the age of 13 years. It is MML's policy never to knowingly collect or maintain personal information about children under the age of 13.
